When you shop, make sure each insurer is offering the same coverage.  Another way to cut costs is to look for discounts that apply to you.  Fro example, many insurers will offer a discount if you buy both your home & auto insurance from them.  Some companies offer discounts if you have dead bolt exterior locks or if your home has a security system.  Others will give a premium discount if all household residents are non-smokers.
